1971 Chrysler Valiant Charger R/T
The Charger, based on the the popular Valiant sedan entered the Australian marketplace in 1971 at the height of Falcon fever and the Holden/Ford rivalry. That same year, Ford released the 1971 XY Falcon GTHO Phase III powered by the tarmac-blistering 380bhp 351 Cleveland V8. Furthermore, Holden unleashed the 300bhp Chevy 350 powered HT Monaro GT-350. So competition was hot and heavy for the Charger. The model pictured above was powered by the 265ci Hemi-6 putting out a slightly anemic 218bhp. In 1972, Chrysler, in an attempt to catch up with the Jones's, released a Valiant Charger 770 SE powered by a 340ci V8. Nonetheless, a stunning example of 70's Australian/American muscle. Spotted in in Newtown, NSW.
2011 Porsche Cayman
Admittedly, not the most exotic specimen to start this blog but a tidy little sports car nonetheless. This little black number is powered by a 265bhp 2.7L flat six that powers it from 0-60 in just 5.5 seconds and it's styling certainly improves upon the boxster of yesteryear. Spotted in Point Piper, New South Wales.
